EasyAccess 2.0 HMI Offline: Error Codes and Connection Checks
Table of Contents
An offline remote connection does not automatically indicate a failed HMI. The panel may still operate locally while its connection to the EasyAccess service is unavailable.
This guide covers selected EasyAccess 2.0 status values and error codes, followed by a practical connection-check workflow. Menu availability and update procedures depend on the HMI model and installed software.
Read the Status and Error Code Separately
EasyAccess 2.0 uses separate system registers for connection status and error information:
- LW-10828: connection status.
- LW-10829: error code associated with going online.
The same number means different things in these two registers. For example, status 1 means offline, while error 1 indicates missing activation.
| LW-10828 value | Status | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Disabled | EasyAccess is not enabled for connection |
| 1 | Offline | The HMI is not online with the service |
| 2 | Online | The HMI is available for a client connection |
| 3 | Occupied | A client connection exists |
| 4 | Downloading client update | An update is in progress |
Online means available; it does not prove that your remote session has connected. These register definitions are documented in the official EasyAccess 2.0 appendix.
Record the status, error code, and time together. A screenshot of the actual diagnostic page is more useful than a report that simply says “the screen is offline.”
Selected EasyAccess 2.0 Error Codes
The following tables are a focused troubleshooting reference, not a complete code catalog. These are EasyAccess connection or client conditions, not PLC or servo alarms.
Network and Server Checks
| Error | Diagnostic meaning | First check |
|---|---|---|
| 201 | Gateway connection problem | HMI gateway configuration |
| 202 | DNS resolution problem | Configured DNS server and reachability |
| 203 | Proxy connection problem | Whether proxy settings match the network |
| 204 | Authentication-server check failed | Access to the authentication service |
| 205 | SSL certificate problem | HMI date and time |
| 206 | Account-server check failed | Access to the account service |
| 207 | SSL connection timeout | Server access and TLS connection |
| 208 | SSL connection failed | Server access and TLS connection |
These checks follow Weintek’s HMI-to-server connection guidance.

Activation and Client Conditions
| Error | Meaning | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Activation missing | Verify activation on this HMI |
| 2 | Server login timed out | Check the outbound connection |
| 3 | Certificate expired | Check clock, client version, and service access |
| 4 | Client not ready | Avoid rapid Start/Stop cycling |
| 5 | Client update pending | Allow the update to finish |
| 6 | HMI client missing | Follow the model-specific OS update procedure |
| 7 | Client download failed | Check account-server access |
For certificate-related errors, including 3, 12, 205, 207, and 208, Weintek’s troubleshooting page includes clock checks and HMI-client update guidance. Do not assume that a certificate error means a new activation purchase is required. See the official error-code troubleshooting page.
1. Confirm Activation, Server Region, and Startup
Check the HMI’s EasyAccess activation status before changing network settings. Activation belongs to the device; an account login alone does not establish that the HMI is activated. Weintek documents this distinction in Add an HMI to a Domain.
Next, verify the selected server region. Global and China use separate account and activation environments. Match the HMI to the region where it was activated rather than switching regions as a general troubleshooting experiment.
Finally, confirm that EasyAccess has been started. Weintek provides an EasyAccess settings page in project templates, commonly window 76, and documents LW-10820 as the connection control register. A custom machine project may not expose that template page. Use the existing approved interface; do not overwrite a production project with a demonstration project simply to obtain diagnostics.
2. Check the HMI’s Actual Network Path
A laptop browsing the internet beside the machine does not prove that the HMI has equivalent access. The devices may use different VLANs, gateways, DNS servers, or firewall rules.
Ask the site’s network administrator to compare the HMI’s recorded configuration with the intended network design:
- IP address and subnet mask.
- Default gateway.
- DNS server.
- Proxy configuration, if required.
- Connected Ethernet interface and switch port.
Use the error code to prioritize the investigation. For a gateway error, establish whether the configured gateway is correct and reachable. For DNS errors, establish whether the configured resolver can resolve the required service names.
Record original settings before making changes. Avoid replacing several values at once: if the connection starts working, you need to know which correction mattered.

3. Check the Correct Server Stage
EasyAccess uses different services for account access and VPN connections. Successful authentication therefore does not prove that the VPN path is available.
The official server list separates:
- Authentication, account, and Weincloud services.
- VPN services used when establishing the remote connection.
- Global and China environments.
The listed endpoints use port 443. Give IT the current EasyAccess 2.0 server list so they can review the relevant destinations and connection rules. Avoid relying on an old copied IP list.
A precise request helps: “Check whether this HMI’s source address can reach the required account and VPN endpoints” is more useful than “open the internet.”
Do not disable the site firewall as a routine diagnostic step. Use connection logs and narrowly scoped, approved rule changes to identify what is blocked.
4. Investigate Certificate Errors Without Losing the Project
First compare the HMI’s date and time with a trusted reference. A significantly incorrect clock can interfere with certificate validation.
Also record both software components:
- The EasyAccess application on the remote computer.
- The EasyAccess client installed on the HMI.
Updating the computer application alone does not establish that the HMI client has been updated. Weintek explains that EasyBuilder Pro can update the HMI client during project download when a newer bundled client is available. See the official EasyAccess FAQ.
Before any project or OS update, preserve the current project and settings, confirm model compatibility, and arrange an appropriate maintenance window. Use the applicable manufacturer procedure rather than treating firmware replacement as a first diagnostic test.
5. Test the Remote Computer Separately
Weintek provides a connection analyzer on its Diagnosis page. The documented workflow uses the appropriate Global or China analysis script and writes results to analyze_result.txt.
Run the official tool from the affected remote computer under the site’s IT policy. Keep the result with the incident record.
Interpret the result carefully:
| Observation | Useful next investigation |
|---|---|
| PC connection tests fail | PC network, proxy, or endpoint access |
| PC tests pass, but HMI remains offline | HMI-side network and configuration |
| HMI is online, but the session will not connect | VPN stage and client-side connection |
| Session connects, but the viewer fails | Viewer configuration and application access |
A passing PC test is evidence about that computer’s path. It does not validate the HMI’s separate connection.
6. Treat “Occupied” as an Existing Connection
Occupied is not another word for offline. Check which users are connected before interrupting a session.
Weintek supports multiple simultaneous users when the domain administrator enables that feature and the application meets its version requirement. Consequently, Occupied does not always mean that all additional connections are prohibited. See Multiple Users Connection.
Coordinate with the active user and machine operator before disconnecting anyone. An existing session may be supporting maintenance or commissioning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Local operation and remote service access are separate checks. A working operator screen confirms that the panel is running, but it does not establish that its internet route, authentication, or VPN connection is available.
For an activated HMI that does not yet belong to a domain, the service generates these details after the HMI goes online. Resolve the online connection first.
Yes. Weintek documents that the VPN address may change between sessions. Use the address provided for the current connection rather than assuming a previous address remains valid.

Verify Recovery Before Closing the Incident
After correcting the identified cause, repeat the connection attempt and confirm each stage:
- The HMI becomes available online.
- The intended user establishes a session.
- The required viewer opens.
- A known, safely changing value updates correctly.
- Local machine operation remains normal.
- A subsequent approved reconnection succeeds.
Use read-only observations first. Remote access restoration is not permission to test machine movement.
If the fault remains, prepare a concise support package containing the HMI model, OS version, EasyBuilder Pro version, PC application version, status and error screenshots, timestamps, server region, and analyzer results. Share credentials and sensitive network details only through approved support channels.
An offline status alone is insufficient reason to replace the panel. If a hardware fault is independently confirmed, provide Kwoco with the exact HMI model, quantity, and destination for replacement sourcing, and confirm project compatibility and EasyAccess activation arrangements separately.
